Llanbedr Village Hall Carbon Neutral Projectby Village Hall Committee - 12:43 on 11 August 2010Thank you to everyone who came along to the Community Meeting in July, and gave us the go-ahead to proceed with the Carbon Neutral project for Llanbedr Village Hall. As a reminder, we are planning to install: Solar PV (electricity generation) panels Solar Thermal panels (to heat the hot water) Air Source Heat Pump (to run central heating, including new radiators etc) Rainwater Harvesting (to flush the toilets) New double glazed windows Loft insulation We have officially applied for £10,000 from Denbighshire County Council towards the total £50,000 project, which we will hear about in September. We have also sent out around 15 letters to independent funders asking for donations - two have replied saying they cannot help us but we have high hopes for the rest. We are proceeding with the main application for the Rural Key Fund; this application needs us to provide quotes for all the works, plus other information about the Community Council, so we have been working hard with Jackie to gather the information required as well as meeting businesses who have given us quotes for the project. We now have sufficient quotes to proceed with more applications. We are receiving some very valuable help from Kelly Benton, who has volunteered to help us and is currently researching whether we are the first village hall in Wales to do this type of retro-fit installation of so many technologies. Our priority at present is applying for funding, and we are getting on with a number of applications. Our next job is to gather all the quotes together and start to think about who we will give the job to, assuming we get the funding required. If anyone would like to offer help or advice, either practical or financial, please get in touch with Jennifer Rowlands, Chair of the Village Hall Committee on 07795 014 239 or jennifer@jjrowlands.plus.com.
